  • Caring for your merino

Posted on March 30, 2012 by Meghan Bowker

From the design room came these special tips caring for your merino. With a little TLC your premier merino wool garments should wear beautifully. Hand washing: • Gently hand wash your garment inside out in cold water with an approved wool wash • Rinse in cold water making sure not to wring or twist the garment • Squeeze the water out by pressing down on garment with hands • Lay garment between two towels and press any excess water out • Lay on a towel out of direct sunlight to dry Although we strongly recommend hand washing, your merino can be machine washed on a delicate wool cycle. Machine washing: • We highly recommend you turn the garment inside out and place it in a lingerie wash bag to prevent excess pilling • Wash in cold water with approved wool wash • Lay on a towel out of direct sunlight to dry If garment needs pressing gently iron on low heat with no steam. Golden rules are: • No tumble drying • No harsh chemicals Storing: • It’s a good idea to pop some sandalwood sachets in amongst your merino garments – this will help prevent damage from moths and leave your merino smelling beautiful www.nzmerino.co.nz

  • The Little Black Dress

Posted on November 30, 2011 by Meghan Bowker

The little black dress, aka LBD, is considered a timeless classic and essential to complete any woman’s wardrobe. A LBD is an evening or cocktail dress, it is usually black in colour, simple in its cut, design and embellishments and is often short in length. The strength of this piece is its versatility to be used for multiple occasions. Due to its simplicity, accessories will do all the work, by giving your LBD multiple looks. Fantastic for those emergency “what can I wear?” situations, the key to a great LBD is to find a style that fits you really well. It should be comfortable and flatter your shape - accentuating your figure assets and hiding your challenges. It is well worth investing in a LBD made of quality fabric, as this piece will be a keeper. Choose a length that is age and situation appropriate and suits your personal body shape. Knee length is usually the most flattering. The key is to keep it simple. Timeless style is essential! Be particularly careful when selecting a dress with embellishments as it can quickly date and restrict accessorizing options. And lastly... invest, invest, invest in accessories that will keep your LBD current and give it lots of different looks for many occasions. Most importantly have fun, be open minded and creative when styling your little black dress.

  • Tips to care for your linen

Posted on October 10, 2011 by Meghan Bowker

Linen is a natural fibre and creases are an integral part of this beautiful fabric. Linen garments are
a key part of a summer wardrobe and if they are carefully looked after they will always look good.
    • Wear linen on warm, rather than scorching days, as perspiration makes the fabric crease
    more easily
    • When your linen clothes are dirty always hang them up. This prevents fabric distress and
    makes cleaning easier
    • Always dry-clean your linen garments. It is well worth taking care of your investment
    • Iron your linen pieces with a steam iron and use a good quality linen spray

  • Layering Tees

Posted on September 29, 2011 by Meghan Bowker

Our favourite new layering tops this summer are the Ballerina Tees.
These pieces, with their sensuous ballerina neckline, bring attention to the décolletage, shoulder and neck - a beautiful area on women.
This season, there is emphasis on showing the shoulders off. Layer the Ballerina tee with a halter or higher neckline to be on trend.
Made from our signature mesh fabric these Tees are a great way of achieving coverage in summer without closing yourself in.

  • Goals

Posted on August 19, 2011 by Meghan Bowker

With spring fast approaching it is a wonderful time to review our dreams and goals so that we can blossom into summer.

    PLAN
Set a number of small goals that will help you achieve the main goal. Remember to take baby steps.

    COMMIT
Make time and give your goal the financial and emotional commitment it needs. Share your dreams with a friend who
will be able to support you on your journey. The more committed you are, the greater the chance of your success.

    VISUALISE
Picture and feel yourself achieving the goal. Create a dream or vision board and leave it where you can see it every day.
It is also fun to leave yourself positive post notes on your mirrors. Using these techniques will help you when your
    motivation is waning.

Remember to have fun with this and enjoy the journey.

  • Inspiration for gift buying

Posted on July 26, 2011 by Meghan Bowker

    Inspiration

Are you battling to find that perfect gift for someone who has everything and flowers are just too predictable? Here are some great alternatives for you to consider:
Chocolate – The key to every woman’s heart! Cards – Especially when they are hand-made. It lets that person really know how much you care. Don’t forget… words say it best, so write from the heart.
Photographs – If you are like me I never get a round to printing photos so I really appreciate when someone gives me a beautiful photograph. A photo is a gorgeous gift when it is put in even the simplest of frames.
Costume Jewellery – A beautiful and accessible gift. No need to worry about sizing either. Choose a long architectural/statement necklace to stay on trend.
Body & Bath – Especially candles, because women rarely buy body and bath products for themselves, yet we love it!
Books – Coffee table books in particular.
Stuffed Animals – For the inner child in all of us!
