Repertoire : From Your Designer

We are very fortunate at Repertoire to have our head designer Lee Kleiman on-site and actively sharing the creative thinking that has gone into every collection. When prompted about her overall design inspiration, Lee is effusive about the importance of the New Zealand environment as one of the core influences for her clothing design. Against this backdrop, Lee seeks inspiration from a myriad of sources – it might be a mood or emotion, nature, a book or piece of art, or even a chance encounter with a long-lost friend. Of course there’s always fashion influences to be had too – Lee is fastidious in her fashion interests and is an informed observer of global design directions and developments. It’s said that creativity never rests, and Lee’s design receptors are constantly set to ‘active’. Read about the inspiration behind each collection as it is delivered for your shopping experience. ENJOY!

shoretimeTo open summer, I wanted to incorporate some exciting new trends that would make dressing for this transeasonal period plain sailing. The new nautical trend was a perfect fit for this first drop of spring/ summer. This trend brings the seaside to the city! Nautical nostalgia is refreshed, creating a modern wave with clean shapes and unexpected details that culminate in effortless, elegant style.

The colour palette embraces the classic nautical shades of ink,
white and red, highlighted by an unexpected splash of vibrant,
aquatic blue. Stripes, the definitive pattern of the season, are
cut in romantic off the shoulder tops and wide leg sailor pants.
Florals and touches of metallic silver add a soft and playful
touch to the collection whilst naval and military inspired jackets
bring a more dramatic edge. Large silver eyelets, statement
buttons and tassels finish off the look.

This collection looks and feels current, modern and new and
the pieces within will become classics that will
live in your wardrobe for seasons to come.
